After rain forced the postponement of Hoboken’s Spring Arts and Music Festival from May 1 to June 12, the new headliner was not immediately announced. But now it has: Ian Hunter, who rose to fame as the frontman of Mott the Hoople in the ’70s before going solo, will perform at the free event, joining a lineup that also includes Skanatra (performing ska versions of Sinatra classics), Smokey’s Round-Up, Tony Corrao, Frankie Morales & The Mambo of the Times Orchestra, Amanda Holley, the Stevens Jazz Quartet, Jason Didner & the Jungle Gym Jam and many others.
Hunter’s set will take place at 4:30 p.m.
As usual, there will be three stages, including one devoted to children’s entertainment, plus arts and crafts displays, food vendors and more lining Hoboken’s main drag, Washington Street. For information, visit hobokennj.org.
Leon Russell, who had been scheduled to headline the May 1 event, is not available on June 12, but has agreed to perform at Hoboken’s Fall Arts & Music Festival, on Sept. 25.
