Metallica’s shows at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, Aug. 4 and 6, will include pre-concert performances by the bands Prong (Aug. 4) and Overkill (Aug. 6) in the G section of the MetLife parking lot, at 3 p.m. each day.
Overkill has posted on Facebook: “we believe that you can just park up at the stadium and pay the parking fee (no we don’t know how much — but generally for Giants games it’s $40) and see our show even if you don’t have tickets to Metallica! What we absolutely do know is we are on at 3:00-4:00 that afternoon!!”
The music inside the stadium will begin at 6 p.m. with opening sets by Pantera and Mammoth WVH (featuring Wolfgang Van Halen), Aug. 4; and Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills, Aug. 6.
The shows are part of Metallica’s M72 Tour which, according to the MetLife website, “will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage at the 50-yard line.”
The tour is made up of two-show stands at different venues, and no songs will be repeated at a city’s two shows, Metallica has announced.
