JON BATISTE

Jon Batiste has been added as the opening act for The Rolling Stones at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, May 23. It had previously been announced that the band Lawrence will open The Stones’ second show there, May 26.

For tickets to either show, visit ticketmaster.com.

Batiste served as bandleader and musical director for “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” from 2015 to 2022. In 2022, his 2021 album We Are was named The Grammy Awards’ Album of the Year, and won several other Grammys as well.

The Rolling Stones last performed in New Jersey in 2019. They released a new album, Hackney Diamonds, in October, and launched their Hackney Diamonds Tour late last month.

It’s a hits-dominated tour, of course, though the band has been playing the Hackney Diamonds tracks “Angry,” “Mess It Up” and “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” as well.

The tour, which is sponsored by AARP, is currently scheduled to last until mid-July.
