Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes will perform at The Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park on Aug. 31 — that’s the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend — in a show that is being billed as “celebrating the 1976 radio show, in honor of The Stone Pony 50th anniversary.”
Tickets will go on sale July 3 at 10 a.m.; visit ticketmaster.com.
LaBamba & the Hubcaps will open at 6 p.m., with the Jukes taking the stage at 8 p.m.
The radio show being referred to is the legendary May 30, 1976 Jukes concert that was a record release party for their debut album, I Don’t Want to Go Home; featured guest appearances by Bruce Springsteen and others; and was broadcast on radio stations throughout the Northeast.
On Facebook, The Stone Pony called it “one of the most memorable shows in the history of the Pony.”
