I don’t know why it took so long to surface. But a video of 1,000 people performing Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run” at the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany, in 2019, was posted to YouTube two days ago. You can watch it below.
“Born to Run” was actually one of 18 songs performed in Frankfurt that day. Others included AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell,” The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk.”
The event was organized by Rockin’ 1000, which was founded in Italy about a decade ago, and has put together mass performances in Italy, Germany, France, Spain and Brazil. Its next event will be at a stadium in Leiria, Portugal, on Sept. 14.
According to the group’s mission statement, “Our goal is to demonstrate that the community of common people can create outstanding results, with no need of protagonists or superstar idols. We want to promote the spirit of togetherness through Rock’n’Roll, overcoming social stratifications, borders, generation gaps, and religious or sexual orientation differences.”

Also, Rockin’ 1000’s YouTube page has videos of dozens of performances, in addition to “Born to Run.”
