“One of my favorite songwriters passed away this week,” Pink told the crowd at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, Oct. 3, before singing Kris Kristofferson’s best-known song, “Me and Bobby McGee” (a posthumous No. 1 hit for Janis Joplin in 1971). You can watch a video of the performance, below.
“I have been obsessed with … Mr. Kristofferson; he wrote … one of my favorite songs,” continued Pink. “I think Kris Kristofferson was one of the most amazing humans and … I am obsessed with Janis Joplin. I always sang this song. It’s one of my favorite songs. And I would like to honor him.”
Kristofferson died on Sept. 28, at the age of 88.
