This year’s edition of the annual Holiday Banding concert fundraiser will take place on Dec. 15 at 4:30 p.m. at Willie McBride’s in Hoboken. Proceeds will support programming presented by The Hoboken Historical Museum and Projected Images of Hudson County.
Local musicians will perform holiday classics, as well as original songs: The impressive lineup will include Abbe Rivers, Annalee Van Kleeck, Cliff Westfall, Deena Shoshkes and Jon Fried of The Cucumbers, Dana Harrison, Dave Lambert, Ed Fogarty, Eddie Skuller, Ed Seifert and the Sharer Sisters with Chris Flynn, Dave Stengel, Elena Skye and Boo Reiners of The Demolition String Band, The Gefkens, Gene D. Plumber & the Plumber’s Helpers, Howard Olah-Reiken, Jim Testa, Julio Fernandez, Las Vandelays Sans Stacy, Lloyd and Elaine Gold, Pamela Strell, Rand Hoppe with Lisa Rigoux-Hoppe and Lois Dilivio, Sputnik the Band, Steve Teti, Susan Lisovicz, and Tom Vincent & the Holiday Banding House Band.
The event will also celebrate the release of Plumber’s new EP, Gene D. Plumber Celebrates Christmas.
“For me, Christmas in Hoboken wouldn’t be complete without the annual Holiday Banding Concert,” says Hoboken’s former administrator of cultural affairs Geri Fallo, who has coordinated this event for years.
She added that “I started this cherished tradition in the late 1980s as a fundraiser for the nonprofit Projected Images of Hudson County, which sponsored weekly film screenings in the back room of Maxwell’s.
“Over the years, the concert has moved to different venues, with occasional changes in the lineup of performers. Yet the holiday cheer it brings has remained a constant. This decades-long tradition is one of Hoboken’s most joyful celebrations. Perhaps that’s why so many musicians return year after year. For the audience, it’s an opportunity to hear holiday classics performed by beloved local artists who share their musical talents with the community in the spirit of the season. I am truly grateful for their continued generosity.”
Fallo is a trustee of the museum, which preserves Hoboken’s rich history and fosters community.
“I’m grateful for the chance to give back to this vital organization,” she says.
