To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen’s landmark Born to Run album — released on Aug. 25, 1975 — Monmouth University’s Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music and Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences will present a scholarly conference, “Born to Run at 50,” on Sept. 7.
Papers and panel abstracts can be submitted to BSACAM curator professor Melissa Ziobro, at mziobro@monmouth.edu, through March 15.
While “scholarship focused on Born to Run will be prioritized,” according to the BSACAM website, more than 20 other “possible subjects” are listed on the site, including:
• Springsteen and American Roots Music Traditions
• Springsteen and Citizenship
• Springsteen and Critical Theory
• Springsteen and Race
• Springsteen and Education
• Springsteen and Gender
• Springsteen and Musicianship
• Springsteen and New Jersey
Monmouth University is in West Long Branch. For information, and more instructions on submitting papers and panel abstracts, visit springsteenarchives.org.
