The State Fair Meadowlands begins this week, and one of its daily offerings — along with the amusement park rides, carnival food, racing pigs, a horse show and so on — will be bands. There will be one, and sometimes two, musical attractions on virtually every day of the fair’s June 19-July 5 run.
The biggest event will be disk jockey Cousin Brucie’s third “Palisades Park Reunion” concert — featuring Tony Orlando, Gary U.S. Bonds, Tommy James, J.T. Carter (of The Crests) and The Capris — on June 27. Other acts will include the Paterson-based vocal group Riff, which made the Top 40 in the early ’90s with “My Heart Is Failing Me,” on June 19; country duo LoCash, on June 23; Heffron Drive (featuring Kendall Schmidt of Big Time Rush) on June 30; and Theatre Rock, a group devoted to the music of Broadway rock musicals (“Hair,” “Rent,” “Tommy,” “Jesus Christ Superstar” and so on), July 5.
