“We come from deepest New Jersey,” sang sisters Maggie, Terre and Suzzy Roche, better known as The Roches, on “We,” from their self-titled 1979 album. Though based in New York, they were indeed from the Garden State: specifically Park Ridge, in Bergen County.
On Oct. 24, Suzzy Roche will perform at the Acoustic Café Music Series at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Park Ridge, and though Maggie and Terre won’t be there, three other members of her illustrious musical family will be. She will perform as a duo with her daughter Lucy Wainwright Roche, an acclaimed singer-songwriter in her own right. (The two released their first album together, Fairytale and Myth, last year.) And her brother David and his daughter Oona will open the show under the name RocheandFather.
Tickets are $30 in advance online, $32 at the door. Visit cafeacoustic.org.
Proceeds will go to the Stigma Free Initiative of Park Ridge (which fights against mental health stigma) and the OLM Haiti scholarship fund.

How cool is this? Park Ridge was an awesome place to grow up (I lived on Greenbrook Pl., around the corner from Villa Ct.) and I applaud the Roche/Wainwright families for doing this upcoming performance for such a worthy cause!
