Bobby Bandiera’s fans know he has an uncanny ability to sound like Roy Orbison, and he will put that talent to good use on April 23, when he will present a tribute to the late Orbison with his Jersey Shore Rock ‘n’ Soul Revue at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank.
Tickets are not yet on sale, but will be $25 to $99, with the most expensive tickets including access to a post-show meet-and-greet. For information, visit thebasie.org.
Bandiera’s first show with the Jersey Shore Rock ‘n’ Soul Revue, in 2005, was a tribute to Orbison. Other shows since then have had other themes.
April 23 marks the 80th anniversary of Orbison’s birth. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer died in 1988, at the age of 52.
Here is a clip of Bandiera singing Orbison’s 1964 hit “Oh, Pretty Woman” with Bon Jovi in 2011. Bandiera, a former member of Southside Johnny’s Asbury Jukes, was a touring member of Bon Jovi from 2005 until last year.
