Nineteen days after David Bowie’s death, the Strand Theater in Lakewood presented a tribute to him, Friday, with many Jersey artists singing his songs. Below is an assortment of videos from the event.
Bowie died of cancer, at the age of 69, just two days after releasing his last album, Blackstar.
A pair of Bowie tributes in New York — at Carnegie Hall, March 31, and Radio City Music Hall, April 1 — are sold out. Bette Midler, Ann Wilson of Heart, Perry Farrell and Cat Power are confirmed for both venues. Also confirmed for Carnegie Hall: Michael Stipe, The Roots, Cyndi Lauper, Bettye LaVette, Jakob Dylan and The Mountain Goats. Also confirmed for Radio City: The Polyphonic Spree and Laurie Anderson. Many other big names, including Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, have been rumored for these shows.
