One of Northwestern New Jersey’s most important music venues, The Stanhope House, is for sale. The real estate company Weichert is listing the property, at 45 Main St. in Stanhope, for $1.7 million.

Owner Jon Klein downplayed the listing to NJ.com, saying that he is just “testing the waters” and looking for a business partner, and that he wants to keep presenting blues music there.
A full slate of acts, of many different kinds, are currently booked for the club. Shows include hard-rock band Adelitas Way, Feb. 2; rapper Pharoahe Monch, Feb. 5; comedian Uncle Floyd, Feb. 14; blues singer Sari Schorr on Feb. 20; and singer-songwriter Joan Osborne, March 18. According to Weichert, the 7,000-square-foot property was built in 1790. The web site makes the following pitch:
