Drummer Carmine Appice has put all his best stories into print in a new memoir, cleverly titled “Stick It! My Life of Sex, Drums and Rock ‘n’ Roll.” An original member of Vanilla Fudge, Appice was later associated with Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne, Cactus and the power trio Beck, Bogert & Appice, among others, and co-wrote the Stewart hits “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” and “Young Turks.”
“I have nothing but good to say about Carmine, even though I ended up firing him. God knows why! … I believe people love characters in rock and roll, and Carmine was a real character. He still is!,” writes Stewart in the book’s foreword.
“If you want to know what life as a rock star is like, read this book!”, writes Max Weinberg, in a blurb for it.
Appice has several area appearances coming up to promote the book. He has book signings scheduled for the Barnes & Noble store in Springfield, May 7 at 3 p.m.; and the Secaucus Public Library, May 12 at 7 p.m.; and will sign books and perform at the Cutting Room in New York, May 10 at 8 p.m.
