Elvis Costello and his band, the Imposters, will perform at the Borgata in Atlantic City and other U.S. venues this fall, in a tour titled “Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers.” In other words, they will be focusing on songs from Costello’s 1982 Imperial Bedroom album.
It doesn’t look like they will just play the songs in order and leave it at that, though. Costello said in press release that he will “frame” songs from the album with songs “that led in and out of that velvet-trimmed playhouse.”
He also said: “You must have known by now that we wouldn’t play this kind of show by anyone else’s rules. You’ll hear all the songs that fit the bill; hits and headlines, waifs and strays. In the words of the great Eric Morecambe, ‘I am playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order.’ ”
Imperial Bedroom includes the following songs:
“Beyond Belief”
“Tears Before Bedtime”
“Shabby Doll”
“The Long Honeymoon”
“Man out of Time”
“Almost Blue”
“…And in Every Home”
“The Loved Ones”
“Human Hands”
“Kid About It”
“Little Savage”
“Boy With a Problem”
“Pidgin English”
“You Little Fool”
“Town Cryer”
The Imposters feature keyboardist Steve Nieve and drummer Pete Thomas (both of Costello’s former band The Attractions) along with bassist Davey Faragher. Imperial Bedroom was recorded by Elvis Costello & the Attractions.
Oct. 22, Costello and the Imposters will perform at the Borgata’s Event Center. Tickets, priced from $65 to $95, go on sale July 22 at 10 a.m.; visit theborgata.com.
They will also be at the Beacon Theatre in New York on Nov. 6. Tickets are $99 to $135; visit beacontheatre.com.

Exciting! I love that album. “Almost Blue” — that’s what I got all emo too back in school, well before emo was a thing. :-)
