The title of the event is in the past tense, even though it concerns something that hasn’t happened yet. But there’s not much doubt it will be accurate.
“Wow, That Was Weird: A Post-Election Evening With Stephen Colbert and John Oliver,” will be presented at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, Nov. 19. At it, the two politically oriented comedic geniuses and “Daily Show” alumni will discuss what happened on this year’s Election Day, Nov. 8, as well as other topics.
Proceeds will go to the Montclair Film Festival. Colbert, who lives in Montclair, is a longtime supporter of the festival, and his wife Evelyn is the president of its board of trustees.
“At the end of a long, contentious political campaign, we could all use a good laugh,” said Montclair Film Festival executive director Tom Hall, on the festival’s website, montclairfilm.org. “We are so honored by the generosity of Stephen Colbert and John Oliver in making this once in a lifetime event happen, and we look forward to a fantastic night of fun.”
Tickets went on sale this morning at 10 a.m. for MFF members; remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Sept. 23. Visit montclairfilm.org.
The sixth annual Montclair Film Festival takes place from April 28 to May 7.
