A Mother’s Day Weekend tradition continues at the Prudential Center in Newark this year, on Sat., May 13, with the annual McDonald’s Gospelfest concert. Performers will include Donnie McClurkin, Erica Campbell (of the duo Mary Mary), Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Cissy Houston, Israel Houghton, Anthony Brown & Group Therapy, Bishop Paul Morton and Greater Allen AME Cathedral Choir. (March 30 Update: Fantasia has been added to the lineup as well.)
Tickets, priced from $45.75 to $133.75, went on sale this morning. Visit prucenter.com for information.
Gospelfest, founded in 1983 and produced and directed by A. Curtis Farrow, includes both a late-afternoon competition, beginning at 4 p.m., and an evening concert. Categories for the competition have ranged, in past years, from Youth Choirs and Adult Choirs to Soloists, Praise Dancers, Steppers, Singing Groups, Gospel Comedians, Gospel Poets and Gospel Rappers.
Campbell and Walker host morning and afternoon shows, respectively, on the New York gospel radio station WLIB (1190 AM).

I am now purchasing tickets and the prices are very high , compare to when they first started advertising the event.I would like to know if anyone else noticed. Thank you and enjoy the show.
Why do these former so called Christians serve the world then claims are made that they are returning to their gospel roots. What roots?
