The Los Angeles-based Grammy Museum will open its first East Coast branch — featuring 8,200 feet of interactive exhibit space plus an education center — at the Prudential Center in Newark. Some of the exhibit space is expected to be devoted to New Jersey natives such as Bruce Springsteen, Frank Sinatra and Whitney Houston.
It will be titled the Grammy Museum Experience Prudential Center, and is expected to open in the fall.
“As a New Jersey native who’s grown up with artists like Frank Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen, both of whom put this state on the map, I am thrilled to partner with the Prudential Center to bring the Grammy Museum Experience to Newark,” said the museum’s executive director, Bob Santelli, in a statement. “This is where my love for music started, and this is also where my career started, so I’m most looking forward to the opportunities this will afford the young people and students of New Jersey.”
Bruce Springsteen has won 20 Grammys over the years. Sinatra won 11, and Houston, seven.
