BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

You can call this story “Harry Potter and the Lost Boss Ballad of Eternal Love.”

Last year, Bruce Springsteen revealed that he had written a song, “I’ll Stand by You Always,” that was copyrighted in 2001, and submitted for possible use in a “Harry Potter” movie. And today, the song leaked, online. You can listen to it below.

“It was pretty good,” Springsteen said in an interview with BBC2. “It was a song that I wrote for my eldest son. It was a big ballad that was very uncharacteristic of something I’d sing myself, but it was something that I thought would have fit lovely. At some point, I’d like to get it into a children’s movie of some sort because it was a pretty lovely song.”

Some of the lyrics go:

You meet me in the night with tears falling down
Come let me dry them for you
I wish I could tell a story
Chase away all those ghosts you’ve got inside of you
A story of heroes that fight all night at any cost
Of a kingdom of love to be won or lost
We’ll fight here together till victory is won
Come take my hand till morning comes
Just close your eyes
I’ll stand by you always, always, always …

Springsteen told BBC2 he was not given a reason why the song wasn’t used.
