Joan Osborne, who is planning to release an album of Bob Dylan covers this spring, will sing songs from it at the South Orange Performing Arts Center on May 19.
Tickets for the show, which is titled “Joan Osborne Sings the Songs of Bob Dylan,” are priced from $35 to $48, and go on sale March 17 at noon, with a pre-sale for SOPAC member March 14 at noon. Visit sopacnow.org.
There is no release date yet for the album; Osborne currently has a Pledgemusic campaign to help her fund it.
She writes on the campaign’s page: “Joan Osborne Sings the Songs of Bob Dylan is a project I’ve been wanting to do since I first covered Bob’s ‘Man in the Long Black Coat’ on my album Relish. Bob has been a tremendous inspiration, and I’ve been lucky enough to record with him and to sing onstage with him when I toured with the Dead. After getting a chance to do an all-Dylan show during a two week residency in NYC earlier this year, I decided now is the time to make this album.”
Osborne has shows scheduled at the Cafe Carlyle in New York, March 7-11.
