The question of what comes next for Kathy Griffin has been answered.
The comedian sparked so much outrage in May with a photo shoot imagining the beheading of President Trump that her upcoming United States shows, including dates at the State Theatre in New Brunswick and BergenPAC in Englewood, had to be canceled. But she has just announced that she will bring a tour, titled (not exactly tastefully) Laugh Your Head Off, to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Europe, in October and November.
In the promotional photo, she holds a globe, not a head, in her right hand. And in a promotional video (see below), she promises, “Nothing is off limits … not even him.” Meaning, presumably, she will talk about Trump in the show.
Will the controversy follow her overseas? We’ll see.
Griffin, who has mostly joked about popular culture and not politics in the past — but has always showed a knack for pushing buttons that spark controversy — publicly apologized for the controversial photo shoot. She currently has no U.S. shows scheduled.
