DARLENE LOVE

Holiday Express — a charitable organization that presents free concerts at hospitals, soup kitchens and other locations during the holiday season — will honor the titanic vocalist Darlene Love at its 10th annual fundraising clambake, which will take place on the beach at McLoone’s Pier House in Long Branch, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.

Holiday Express musicians will perform, and Love will join them for at least one song.

Love sang on the classic 1963 album, A Christmas Gift for You From Phil Spector, and recorded Steven Van Zandt’s “All Alone on Christmas” for the soundtrack of the 1992 movie, “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.” “All Alone on Christmas” has become the theme song for Holiday Express, and is performed at every show.

“The song truly embodies the reason that I started Holiday Express,” said Holiday Express founder Tim McLoone, in a press release. “We truly believe that the lyric, ‘Nobody ought to be all alone on Christmas,’ is why we will be doing 100 events this holiday season.”

Admission to the fundraiser is $250, and includes a buffet dinner and open bar. There will also be a live and silent auction.
