Stephen Colbert, Patrick Wilson and others will revisit the ’70s, in song, at Wellmont

by JAY LUSTIG

Stephen Colbert and others will sing at the ” ’70s Mixtape” benefit concert at the Wellmont Theater in February.

As a sequel to the 1980s Dance Party, benefiting Montclair Film, that took place at the Wellmont Theater in February of this year, Montclair Film will present ” ’70s Mixtape!: A 1970s Dance Party” at the same venue, Feb. 24.

As as that show, Joe McGinty & the Loser’s Lounge will be the house band, and talk-show host Stephen Colbert, actor Patrick Wilson and musician-writer Warren Zanes will make guest appearances, singing on one or more songs.

(Jan. 30 update: “Late Show With Stephen Colbert” bandleader Jon Batiste has been added to the lineup.)

Tickets range from $30 to $200; the most expensive ones includes a pre-show reception, and drinks and hors d’oeuvres throughout the event. Visit montclairfilm.org. Also, through Charitybuzz.com, Montclair Film is auctioning off an opportunity to duet with Wilson as part of the show.

Proceeds will benefit Montclair Film’s year-round film and education programs.

At the 1980s dance party, Colbert, a Montclair resident and a member of Montclair Film’s advisory board, sang Talking Heads’ “Once in a Lifetime.”

The dates for Montclair Film’s 2018 festival have not been announced yet.
