“An Evening with Danny DeVito” — taking place at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, April 28, as part of the Asbury Park Music & Film Festival — promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime event in the town where the actor, director and producer grew up. According to a press release, it will feature “select video vignettes and stories from DeVito’s relationship with Asbury Park and his illustrious career, integrated with discussion, a Q&A session and other special presentations.”
This will be one of the anchor events of the festival. The other will be a concert by Sublime With Rome, April 28 at Convention Hall.
The venues are in the same Boardwalk complex, and festival-goers could theoretically attend both, since DeVito’s event starts at 7 p.m., and the concert is at 9:30.
Tickets to both events went on sale today; visit apmff.org.
Other festival events will include a collection of rare Bob Dylan film clips; the world premiere of the documentary “Break on Thru: A Celebration of Ray Manzarek and The Doors”; a screening of the Grateful Dead documentary, “Long Strange Trip”; and concerts featuring the North Mississippi Allstars, Built to Spill, Low Cut Connie Bobby Bandiera and others.
