In the first confirmed sign of an anticipated 2018 tour, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul will perform at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, April 29. Tickets will go on sale March 2 at 10 a.m., with a “Benefactor Donors (& Up) Pre-Sale” March 1 at 10 a.m. Visit stnj.org.
(Feb. 27 Update: They will also perform at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, May 5, with tickets going on sale March 2 at 9 p.m; visit mayoarts.org. And a show at the PlayStation Theater in New York, May 2, will go on sale at the same time; visit playstationtheater.com. It has also been announced that tour proceeds will benefit the Rock and Roll Forever Foundations’s TeachRock organization.)
The timing of the shows may be connected to a possible May release for a live Disciples of Soul album. Van Zandt released his first album in 18 years, Soulfire, in 2017, and toured extensively.
Also, Van Zandt will be hosting a show by Monkees members Mike Nesmith and Micky Dolenz at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, June 25, as part of the Little Steven’s Underground Garage at the Basie series. And Van Zandt and his wife Maureen are co-producing a monthly series of shows by Eddie Brigati of The Rascals at the Cutting Room in New York, starting March 1.
Van Zandt will also be inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, May 6.
