Tony Bennett will perform at NJPAC on Oct. 6.

Tony Bennett turned 92 on Friday and, today, announced a new show at Prudential Hall at NJPAC in Newark. It takes place Oct. 6, and tickets will go on sale Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. (with pre-sales starting Aug. 8 at 10 a.m.). Visit ticketmaster.com.

Bennett’s daughter, Antonia Bennett, will open.

Tony Bennett’s next album, Love Is Here to Stay, is a collaboration with Diana Krall, and comes out on Sept. 14 on Verve Records/Columbia Records. You can listen to the lead single, “Fascinating Rhythm,” below.

The song, written by George and Ira Gershwin for the 1924 musical “Lady, Be Good,” was the first Bennett ever recorded — in 1949, under the pseudonym Joe Bari.

Other songs on the new album, which pays tribute to the songwriting of the Gershwins, are ” ‘S Wonderful,” “My One and Only,” “But Not for Me (Krall solo), “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” “Love Is Here to Stay,” “I Got Rhythm,” “Somebody Loves Me,” “Do It Again,” “I’ve Got a Crush on You,” “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” and “Who Cares?” (Bennett solo).

Krall and Bennett recorded it with the Bill Charlap Trio, featuring Charlap on piano, Peter Washington on bass and Kenny Washington on drums.

Tony and Diana make a great team! Their voices blend effortlessly and the true Gershwin mood and message comes forth loud and clear. This album will certainly be next on my shopping list. Keep ’em coming, Tony!
