“Women Rock New Jersey,” the fifth concert in the “Jay’s Jersey Jams” series of benefits for NJArts.net, will feature an all-female lineup of dynamic singer-songwriters — Eryn, Nalani & Sarina, Lisa Bouchelle and Katie Henry — and take place at Crossroads in Garwood, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.
For tickets, visit ticketfly.com.
In addition to the musical performances, the event will include a free 5 p.m. panel discussion in which the artists will talk about navigating the modern music industry as women. I will moderate the discussion, which will be taped and appear later as a feature on NJArts.net.
“I can’t wait to be part of the panel discussion and offer my thoughts and advice to aspiring female musicians,” says Eryn. “It will be a great way to kick off the ‘Women Rock New Jersey’ show.”
“We are incredibly excited to share the stage with some talented, female-fronted bands from New Jersey,” said Nalani & Sarina. “Opening the conversation of women empowerment in music is important to us, so we’re really looking forward to growing this phenomenon.”
Crossroads was the location for the first two benefits for NJArts.net, in 2016 and 2017. This will be the third benefit this year; the others have already taken place at Tierney’s Tavern in Montclair, and the Stanhope House.
NJArts.net has been offering thorough coverage of the state’s arts scene since late 2014.
This will be Bouchelle’s second performance at one of these benefits. Among the other artists who have performed at the previous four are the late Pat DiNizio, Richard Barone, James Mastro, Glenn Mercer, The Shockenaw Mountain Boys, John Ginty, Tony Trischka, Barry Mitterhoff, Kinderhook, The Weeklings, The Grip Weeds, Speed the Plough, Ruth Ruth, Joe D’Urso, The Porchistas, Marcus Randolph and Loretta Hagen.
