Producer Tony Visconti, best known for his work with David Bowie, will give a talk followed by a question-and-answer session at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, April 27 at 10 a.m. The event is open to the general public; tickets, priced at $25, are available at strawbs50.com/shop.
Visconti will be in town to take part in Strawbs’ three-day 50th anniversary celebration at the Strand Center for the Arts. At the Strand, he’ll conduct 30-piece orchestra on two Strawbs songs for which he has written new arrangements.
Visconti has won two Grammys, and among the countless producing or co-producing credits of his own 50-year career are Bowie’s The Man Who Sold the World, Young Americans, Low and Blackstar; T. Rex’s Electric Warrior, The Slider and Tanx; The Moody Blues’ The Other Side of Life; Strawbs’ Dragonfly and From the Witchwood; Thin Lizzy’s Bad Reputation; Badfinger’s Magic Christian Music; and Angélique Kidjo’s Djin Djin.
Free shuttle service will be provided between the Strand and the university.
