For the second straight year, Jersey City has booked a major artist to headline its free Fourth of July celebration at Exchange Place.
Last year, it was Snoop Dogg; the city reports that 150,000 attended the all-day event. And this year — continuing the canine theme, you might say — it will be Pitbull.
Jersey City’s own Akon will also perform, as he did last year.
In an email message, Jersey City mayor Steven Fulop said this year’s event will be “an even bigger 4th of July celebration” than last year, and that “This year, we’re expanding the all day entertainment.” But the rest of the musical lineup has not been announced yet.
There will, though, be carnival games and rides, food trucks, a beer fest, a kids zone, Red Bulls-sponsored soccer activities and more, capped by a Grucci fireworks show. The celebration is scheduled to last from noon to 10 p.m.
