The Doobie Brothers will celebrate their 50th anniversary next summer with a tour that will include Michael McDonald, who sang lead on hits such as “Takin’ it to the Streets,” “What a Fool Believes” and “Real Love” during his 1975-1982 stint with the group.

According to a post in Rolling Stone, the 30-date tour will run from June 9 to Oct. 10, with stops at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, June 27, and the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, June 29. Tickets will go on sale Dec. 6 at 10 a.m.

(Nov. 26 Update: The Dirty Dozen Brass Band has been added as the opening act for the entire tour.)

The band made the announcement after a show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Nov. 18, at which McDonald made a guest appearance.

The Doobie Brothers — who also have a show scheduled, without McDonald, at the Etess Arena at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, Nov. 22 — are nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year. The inductees will be announced in January.

The group came together in San Jose, in 1970, and released a self-titled album in 1971 before having its first hit single, “Listen to the Music,” in 1972.
