Joe Bonamassa will perform in Holmdel and Camden this summer.

In 1989, Joe Bonamassa opened for B.B. King when he was just 12 years old. This year, the blues singer-songwriter-guitarist will play songs associated with King as well as two other blues giants — Albert King and Freddie King (no relation) — on a summer tour that will kick off with two New Jersey shows: Aug. 7 at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden and Aug. 8 at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel. Tickets go on sale Feb. 7, and there will also be a presale Feb. 4 for City cardmembers. For information, visit ticketmaster.com.

The tour follows a tribute to Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf titled “Joe Bonamassa: Muddy Wolf at Red Rocks” that was presented at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo. last summer.

Bonamassa’s band on the tour will include drummer Anton Fig, bassist Michael Rhodes, keyboardist Reese Wynans, trumpeter Lee Thornburg, saxophonist Paulie Cerra and trombonist Nick Lane. The last show, at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles Aug. 29, will be filmed for release on DVD.

Some of the tour proceeds will go to the Keeping the Blues Alive foundation, founded by Bonamassa to promote blues education.
