The Bongos’ March 20 concert at the Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair has been postponed.

The Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair has postponed three shows, due to the coronavirus threat.

The Outpost’s board said in a statement: “The Outpost in the Burbs has always considered the health and safety of our community — patrons, volunteers, and artists, our first priority. In light of the current situation with regard to the increasing threat of the COVID-19 virus, we will be postponing our next three shows … While this was a difficult decision to make, we feel it is the correct one.

“We are currently working with the artists’ teams and hope to announce rescheduled dates for these shows. Tickets already purchased can be used for rescheduled dates, or refunds will be issued as requested.”

The postponed shows are Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche, March 19; The Bongos and Tammy Faye Starlite, March 20; and a “New Voices” show featuring Alex Cuba and Emily Mure, April 4.

Still on are Alejandro Escovedo, April 17; Shawn Colvin, May 1; Red Molly, May 15; and Robyn Hitchcock, May 16.

“We regret the postponement of our shows through April 4 and wish our patrons, volunteers and artists good health,” said Outpost board member Cindy Stagoff, who is also the advertising and marketing director and a staff writer at NJArts.net.

“During the next few weeks, let’s lean on music to connect us and to help alleviate fear. Music has always provided shelter from the storm. I think I can speak for the whole board when I say our thoughts are with those who are sick, workers living without a paycheck and artists who need to perform for a living, and we look forward to seeing you all soon, when this difficult moment has passed.”

These shows join a growing list of New Jersey arts events that have been postponed or canceled, including the Fest for Beatles Fans in Jersey City; two shows at BergenPAC in Englewood; and six Princeton Symphony Orchestra events.
