Last year, the Black Potatoe Independent Music Festival said farewell with the last of its annual events on the grounds of the Red Mill Museum in Clinton. Nothing had been planned for this summer.
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, though, Black Potatoe has been resurrected as an online fundraiser for Why Hunger’s COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund and other charities. It is being billed as the 24th annual Black Potatoe Festival and will take place May 28 at 2 p.m.
“Hopefully, we can help out a little bit and get some more food out there for folks that don’t have any right now,” said Black Potatoe organizer Matt “Angus” Williams.
Williams, a festival regular with his band The Matt Angus Thing, will perform, as will Jimmy Vivino (the former Conan O’Brien house band leader and a member of the popular Beatles cover group The Fab Faux), The John Ginty Band, Gregg Cagno, Rennie Pincus, KC Cary, Hanna Bingham, The Sharar Sisters, Walt Bibinger, Megan Ernakovich, Jim Garabo, Jenny Cat, Mike Montrey, the Caren Kennedy Duo, Karl Dietel and Christian Bauman.
The online festival can be viewed on Black Potatoe’s Facebook page.
