Thirty-one Adam Schlesinger songs are covered on the album “Saving for a Custom Van.”

New versions of 31 songs written or co-written by the late Adam Schlesinger are featured on the album Saving for a Custom Van, which will benefit MusiCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Schlesinger, a member of Fountains of Wayne who also played in other bands and wrote songs for various screen and stage projects (and grew up in Montclair), died in April from COVID-19 complications.

Fountains of Wayne member Jody Porter contributes a cover of “Four in the Morning,” from another one of Schlesinger’s bands, Ivy. Actress Rachel Bloom (Schlesinger wrote songs for her TV series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”) turns in a slow, moody version of the Fountains of Wayne hit “Stacy’s Mom.”

Comedian Sarah Silverman duets with Ben Lee on an earnest version of Schlesinger’s “Way Back Into Love,” from the 2007 movie “Music and Lyrics”; Schlesinger wrote songs for “The Bedwetter,” a musical developed from Silverman’s memoir of the same name that had been scheduled to open off-Broadway in April, but has been postponed.

Other contributors include Tanya Donelly and Gail Greenwood of Belly (“Undertow”), Ted Leo (“Everyday”), Nada Surf (“Sick Day”), Kay Hanley of Letters to Cleo (“Radiation Vibe”), Motion City Soundtrack (“Dip in the Ocean”) and Mikey Erg (“Hey Julie”).
