Susan Speidel will perform in an outdoor cabaret format at the Paper Mill Playhouse.

The Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn hopes to resume indoor shows in October. But for now, it will be offering “Brookside Cabaret” shows at its Carriage House Restaurant, Saturday nights. (The theater is located on Brookside Drive, by the Rahway River.)

Susan Speidel and Joe Regan will perform on June 20 and 27 and July 4 and 11 at 7 p.m. They both have performed frequently at cabaret venues in New York and elsewhere, and been involved in Paper Mill’s educational programs.

The restaurant will also be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights, and mid-day Sunday for brunch.

In a press release, Paper Mill managing director Mike Stotts called the dining area “vast enough to comply with state guidelines on social distancing,” and producing artistic director Mark S. Hoebee said: “Paper Mill Playhouse has been bringing audiences live theater for 83 years and we will continue to do so by adjusting to what this means in the face of the current pandemic.”

Rain dates for the shows will be the following night and, according to the press release, additional live performances will be announced.
