Black Box PAC to present 14 ‘Shakespeare in the Park’ shows

Bergen County Shakespeare in the Park

Bergen County Shakespeare in the Park programs begin Aug. 20.

The Black Box Performing Arts Center in Englewood, which has been presenting outdoor shows the past few summers, will do so again this year, mostly at libraries and parks in Bergen County, beginning Aug. 20. One non-Bergen County venue — the Old York Cellars winery in Ringoes (Hunterdon County) — will also be used.

Two of Shakespeare’s comedies, “Measure for Measure” and “The Tempest,” will be performed.

The shows will not have fixed seating. Audience members will bring their own chairs and set them up a safe distance from each other, and will be asked to wear masks. Local officials will be on hand to monitor the distancing. According to a press release, “BBPAC strictly follows all up-to-date health protocols as dictated by local, state, and national authorities.”

All the shows are free except for the ones at Old York Cellars; visit oldyorkcellars.com.

Advance registration is required at some of the other venues. Links to find out more information and/or register are at BlackBoxPAC.com.
