“Looks like the cat’s out of the bag,” The Killers tweeted last night. “When The Boss decides it’s time to make an announcement, it’s time to make an announcement.”
In a phone interview yesterday with SiriusXM satellite radio, Bruce Springsteen mentioned that he had recorded a new song with the band that would come out “soon, in a week or so.” The Killers had not been expecting him to say that. They announced, also yesterday, a contest in which people could guess the artist in an upcoming collaboration, with the first 200 guesses receiving early access to the video.
Soon, they shared the first clue, a photo of a carnival with the words, “his city is down on the boardwalk and also the title of a song by our mystery artist.”
Today, they included, with the “cat’s out of the bag” tweet, the photo above, which appears to show Springsteen’s back and Killers frontman Brandon Flowers’ face.
I’ve included the video for The Killers’ 2009 single “A Dustland Fairytale,” below.
(JUNE 16 UPDATE: The collaboration has been released and I have added it below, as well.)
