“The Night Time Is the Right Time” will be the theme of Bruce Springsteen’s 24th DJ show on SiriusXM satellite radio, debuting June 30 at 10 a.m. on the network’s E Street Radio channel (channel 20).
“I’ve got the night in my veins,” Springsteen says in a SiriusXM spot promoting the show, under which portions of Ray Charles’ “(Night Time Is) The Right Time” and The Bee Gees’ “Night Fever” are played. SiriusXM DJ Jim Rotolo added, during his June 28 show, that songs by James Brown, Patsy Cline and Van Morrison would be played. And a post on the SiriuxXM blog adds Patti Smith, The Pretenders and Springsteen himself.
This is a similar theme to Show No. 10 in the series, in August 2020, titled “In Dreams” and featuring songs about dreams as well as the nighttime. Springsteen’s own songs, of course (and especially songs from early in his career), are filled with references to the night.
I was wondering if Springsteen would continue doing these DJ shows now that his Broadway run has started. I guess I have my answer.
The show will be part of The Boss’ “From My Home to Yours” series, which Springsteen has been doing since April 2020. You can read transcripts of what he has said on the previous 23 shows, and see YouTube videos of all the songs he has played, via these links:
