James Taylor and Jackson Browne have two shows together scheduled for New Jersey this month.

SPOILER ALERT! Don’t read this if you don’t want any background information relevant to the possibility of James Taylor and Jackson Browne duetting at their two New Jersey shows, this week.

The shows take place at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, Aug. 25 at 7:30 p.m., and the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. Taylor will headline, with Browne opening. Both dates were, of course, postponed from 2020, because of the pandemic.

The tour began July 29 and has included 10 shows so far.

Again, don’t read any further if you don’t want to know what happened at the shows.

Okay, you have been sufficiently warned.

According to setlist.fm, the tour’s standard setlists have seen Taylor and Browne performing Browne’s “The Pretender” together during Browne’s set, and “Take It Easy” (co-written by Browne and Glenn Frey) during Taylor’s set. Browne has also been part of a large group of backing vocalists on “You’ve Got a Friend” (written by Carole King and famously recorded by Taylor) at some shows (or possibly all shows, though Browne’s presence has not always been noted on setlist.fm).

Here are videos of all three songs:

Taylor and Browne, incidentally, have done some other songs together in the past. Here they are performing Browne’s “Doctor My Eyes” and “For a Rocker” together in 2016.

Going back further, they both, of course, participated in the “No Nukes” protest concerts of 1979, and though they didn’t do any duets, they did both contribute to the grand finale, “Takin’ It to the Streets.”

It’s worth noting that Jackson Browne’s Touring Band has added Asbury Park Alumnus and Keyboardist Jason Crosby to ist’s ensemble. Jason, originally from Long Island, spent many years as an Asbury Park, NJ resident and musician. His band affiliations have included the seminal NJ Jamband Solar Circus, and he has gone on to play Keyboards and Violin with The Zen Tricksters, Phil Lesh & Friends, John McGlaughlin’s Mahavishnu Project, and more!
