In conjunction with the Feb. 11 release of a solo album, Earthling, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will perform with his own band, The Earthlings, on a brief United States tour that will begin with shows at the Beacon Theatre in New York, Feb. 3-4, and NJPAC in Newark, Feb. 6. Tickets will go on sale Dec. 9 at 10 a.m., with pre-sales starting Nov. 30. Click here for Newark, here for New York.
Guitarist and singer Glen Hansard (of the groups The Frames and The Swell Season) will open the shows on his own, and also play in The Earthlings along with drummer Chad Smith (of The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Chickenfoot), keyboardist/guitarist/singer Josh Klinghoffer (a former Red Hot Chili Pepper who is now a touring member of Pearl Jam), bassist Chris Chaney (of Jane’s Addiction) and guitarist Andrew Watt (who produced Earthling).
With Pino Palladino instead of Chaney on bass, The Earthlings performed at the Vedder-curated Ohana Festival in Dana Point, Calif., in September. Songs included Pearl Jam songs “Better Man” and “Corduroy” as well as cover such as R.E.M.’s “Drive,” The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” and The Pretenders’ “Precious.”
This will be Vedder’s first solo album since Ukulele Songs, in 2011.
