(Dec. 31 Update: This show has been cancelled.)
The 2022 Light of Day Festival will begin, as it usually does, with a concert at the Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair. And the ’22 show there will take place Jan. 7. It will have a “Songwriters in the Round” format, featuring acoustic performances, with all the musicians staying onstage together throughout the evening. And the lineup will include Glen Burtnik and Bob Burger of The Weeklings; Blue Americana, featuring Glenn Alexander (of Southside Johnny’s Asbury Jukes) and Oria Aspen; Jeffrey Gaines; James Maddock; Guy Davis and Joe D’Urso. D’Urso also will serve as the show’s host.
Tickets and VIP packages are currently available at outpostintheburbs.org.
As previously announced, Light of Day will take place Jan. 7-17, with the main concert scheduled for the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, Jan. 14. Most of the events throughout the 11 days, as usual, will take place in Asbury Park, though there also will be shows in Manhattan and Rockland County, in addition to Red Bank and Montclair.
Proceeds from Light of Day concerts raise money and awareness for the battle against Parkinson’s disease and related illnesses ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and PSP (progressive supranuclear palsy). Since its creation in 2000, Light of Day has raised close to $6 million.
