The URSB Carteret Performing Arts & Events Center will host a Stand With Ukraine benefit concert, May 15.
The URSB Carteret Performing Arts & Events Center will host Stand With Ukraine, May 15 at 2 p.m., with proceeds benefiting humanitarian relief efforts for Ukrainian refugees.
Performers will include:
• Slau Halatyn, a singer-songwriter who is based in New York and has released several Ukrainian language albums as part of the duo, Darka & Slawko.
• Balarus-born violinist Alexei Yavtuhovich, who founded the music society, Collegium Musicum NJ.
• The Boyan Choir of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Perth Amboy.
• The Whippany-based Iskra Ukrainian Dance Ensemble.
• Singer and bandura player Olya Fryz. (The bandura is a Ukrainian string instrument.)
The event will also have vendors exhibits and ethnic food for purchase.
“Ukrainian Americans are a vital part of our Carteret and Central Jersey Community, so to see what is happening in Ukraine breaks our hearts,” said Carteret Mayor Dan Reiman in a press release. “My office reached out to the Ukrainian Embassy and local Ukrainian churches at the beginning of the Russian invasion and we have worked together to coordinate this event.”
