Galactic will co-headline the July 9-10 Maplewoodstock festival.

Maplewoodstock will return for the first time since the start of the pandemic, July 9-10, with the same co-headliners (Galactic, Funk Yeah! and Friends of the Brothers) that had been scheduled to perform at the postponed October 2021 event.

The free, annual fest will take place in its usual location, Maplewood’s Memorial Park. For information and updates, visit maplewoodstock.com.

Galactic is a jam band based in New Orleans.

Funk Yeah! is a ’70s-style funk band featuring musicians such as former Tower of Power and Blood, Sweat & Tears singer Tommy Bowes, saxophonists Tom Timko (Blood, Sweat & Tears, Toto, Gloria Estefan) and Dave Mullen (Nile Rodgers, Gloria Gaynor, Parliament-Funkadelic), guitarist Chris Vitarello (Butch Trucks & the Freight Train Band), bassist Andy Huenerberg (Hubert Sumlin), drummer Lee Finkelstein (Blues Brothers, Blood, Sweat & Tears) and keyboardist Dave Pressel (Gil Parris, Bernie Williams).

Friends of the Brothers plays the music of the Allman Brother Band and features guitarist-singer Junior Mack (longtime frontman of ABB drummer Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band), guitarist Andy Aledort (who has played in ABB guitarist-singer Dickey Betts’ band), bassist Lamar Williams Jr. (son of the late ABB bassist), singer-guitarist Alan Paul (author of the definitive ABB biography, “One Way Out”), as well as Finkelstein and others.

Some members of both Funk Yeah! and Friends of the Brothers live in Maplewood and nearby towns, as do many of the other musicians who will be performing throughout the two days.
