Todd Rundgren and Adrian Belew will be among the artists participating in the Celebrating David Bowie Tour, which comes to the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, Oct. 27, and Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, Oct. 29. Other venues will include the Tarrytown Music Hall, Oct. 23, and Sony Hall in Manhattan, Oct. 24-25.
Tickets go on sale Aug. 5 at noon, with pre-sales beginning earlier in the week.
Other performers will include Royston Langdon of Spacehog, Angelo “Scrote” Bundini, and Angelo Moore of Fishbone, though Moore won’t perform in Rahway and Atlantic City, and Jeffrey Gaines will.
Belew played guitar for Bowie on tour in 1978, 1979 and 1990, and performed on Bowie’s 1979 Lodger album; Bowie also made vocal and songwriting contributions to Belew’s 1990 album, Young Lions.
“With such a large catalog to choose from, different songs affect us and the audience in varying measure,” said Belew, in a press release. “It’s always amazing to feel the excitement of a Bowie audience beaming directly at you. Pure adrenaline! So much love for David.”
“In 1973, I met David Bowie and one of us ended up crying,” said Rundgren. “I met David several times after that. Some of our phases, like glam, coincided.”
“It’s impossible to put into words quite how much he taught me,” said Langdon.
