Nicki Minaj will receive the Video Vanguard Award and perform at MTV’s 2022 Video Music Awards show, taking place at the Prudential Center in Newark, Aug. 28 at 8 p.m., and airing live on MTV at that time.
This is a lifetime achievement award for “outstanding contributions” and “profound impact” on music video and popular culture. Previous winners range from David Bowie, The Beatles and Michael Jackson to Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.
Also confirmed to perform at the ceremony are Anitta, J Balvin, Marshmello x Khalid and Panic! At the Disco, with many more artists expected to be announced soon.
Leading nominees include Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X (seven each), Doja Cat and Harry Styles (six each), and Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd (five each). Minaj is nominated in the Hip Hop Video category for “Do We Have a Problem?,” featuring Lil Baby.
