Montclair Film Festival adds star power with Eddie Redmayne, Brendan Fraser

The Montclair Film Festival, which has already announced an Oct. 28 event with Daniel Craig (with Stephen Colbert serving as interviewer) as part of this year’s Oct. 21-30 fest, has added appearances by Eddie Redmayne and Brendan Fraser.

“The Good Nurse,” co-starring Redmayne and Jessica Chastain as hospital co-workers, will screen at The Wellmont, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m., with Redmayne and director Tobias Lindholm participating in a post-screening Q&A with Colbert.

Fraser stars in director Darren Aronofsky’s family drama “The Whale,” which will screen Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at The Wellmont Theater, with Fraser joining Colbert for a post-screening Q&A session.

Also, the festival has announced that Elegance Bratton will be honored with its Breakthrough Director & Writer Award after a screening of his “The Inspections,” Oct. 22 at 3:30 p.m. at The Wellmont. And the Mark Fletcher-directed “Patrick & the Whale,” about Whale expert Patrick Dykstra, will screen as its Nonfiction Centerpiece, Oct. 23 at noon at The Wellmont, with Dykstra participating in a post-screening Q&A session.

Maria Schrader’s “She Said,” co-starring Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan as New York Times reporters whose work helped to launch the #MeToo movement, will screen as the festival’s closing film, Oct. 30 at 7:45 p.m. at the Montclair Kimberley Academy’s Upper School.

The festival’s full schedule will be announced on Sept. 30.

Tickets for Craig’s appearance, which will take place at NJPAC in Newark, are already on sale via ticketmaster.com. Craig stars in “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” which will screen at The Wellmont on Oct. 21, to open the festival.

Tickets for other events go on sale Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. for Montclair Film members and Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. for the general public. Visit montclairfilm.org.
