Bruce Springsteen performed with The Killers at Madison Square Garden in New York, Oct. 1.

Bruce Springsteen joined The Killers for three encores at their Oct. 1 concert at Madison Square Garden: His own anthems “Badlands” and “Born to Run” as well as The Killers’ “A Dustland Fairytale.” You can watch all three below.

Killers frontman Brandon Flowers introduced Springsteen by saying: “Everybody gets a little nervous when their boss shows up for work, right? I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but me and my friends have been sweating bullets up here all night, because The Boss is here. Ladies and gentlemen, Bruce Springsteen.”

And before “A Dustland Fairytale,” he said that in this portion of the show, he usually tells people to hold up their phones and think about where their light comes from. “It is a very unusual circumstance for me tonight, because I get a lot of my light from you,” he said, looking at Springsteen.

The Killers also performed at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 30 as part of the Imploding the Mirage Tour.

The Killers initially released “A Dustland Fairytale” in 2009 but collaborated with Springsteen on a on a new version of it in 2021.

Flowers sang on “Thunder Road” with Springsteen and The E Street Band at a concert at The Pinkpop Festival in The Netherlands in 2009.

Springsteen released a new single, “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do),” on Sept. 29, and announced the upcoming, Nov. 11 release of a new album devoted to covers of soul songs, Only the Strong Survive.

Here are videos of the three songs. As you can see, E Street Band saxophonist Jake Clemons is prominently featured on both “Badlands” and “Born to Run.”
