The American Dream mall in East Rutherford will present a multimedia Van Gogh exhibition, “Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience,” from Dec. 1 to Jan. 29. (Nov. 30 Update: The opening has been delayed to March 3, and the exhibit will remain open through April 30.)
The exhibition promises projections of more than 300 of Van Gogh’s artworks including “The Starry Night,” “Sunflowers” “Café Terrace at Night” and various self-portraits.
A press release promises “art liberated from its two-dimensional limitations into a three-dimensional experience that exhilarates every sense and brings to life one of the most influential artists the world has known.”
Immersive art exhibitions — devoted to Van Gogh and other artists, including Picasso and Monet — have become popular throughout the world over the last 15 years, and there are currently several different companies presenting these kinds of shows, devoted to Van Gogh’s art, in the United States. According to the press release, more than 4 million tickets have already been sold, globally, for “Beyond Van Gogh.”
