No artists have been announced yet, but the next Light of Day WinterFest will take place from Sat., Jan. 7 to Fri., Jan. 20, with the main concert scheduled for the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, Jan. 14. Tickets go on sale Nov. 11 at 10 a.m.
As usual, most of the events will take place in Asbury Park, but there also will be shows in Montclair, Manhattan, Philadelphia and Stony Point, N.Y., in addition to Red Bank.
The annual festival, now in its 23rd year, will raise money for — and awareness of — the battle to defeat Parkinson’s disease and related illnesses. Over the years, more than $6 million has been raised for this cause.
Bruce Springsteen has appeared at some past WinterFests, sitting in with Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers during the main concert and sometimes joining other performers as well. Other artists who have performed at Light of Day shows over the years include Southside Johnny, Darlene Love, Gary U.S. Bonds, The Smithereens, Lucinda Williams, Suzanne Vega, Willie Nile, James Maddock, Jesse Malin, Garland Jeffreys and LaBamba’s Big Band.
