The Doobie Brothers have extended their 50th anniversary tour, with new dates including the State Theatre in New Brunswick, July 8-9; the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, July 11-12; and Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, Oct. 8. The band will feature co-founding singer-songwriter-guitarists Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons as well as longtime multi-instrumentalist John McFee, plus Michael McDonald, who sang lead on hits such as “Takin’ it to the Streets,” “What a Fool Believes” and “Real Love” during his 1975-1982 stint with the group.
The group came together in San Jose, in 1970, and released a self-titled album in 1971 before having its first hit single, “Listen to the Music,” in 1972.
